ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Komal 👋🏼

I work as an Experience Designer at Dow Jones. I have a Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Originally from Houston, Texas, I love technology and creativity. My studies at Georgia Tech introduced me to HCI and UX/Product Design, where I merged my creativity to enhance tech products. With nearly five years of experience, I promote design thinking and inclusive design, aiming to create visually appealing solutions for complex issues that cater to all.

My other passions

When I’m not designing, you can catch me:

Learning a new language through Duolingo (I’m currently learning both Hindi and Greek!)
Traveling somewhere, trying to understand the world and embrace other cultures.
Learning a new dance.
Playing video games with a strong narrative and engaging gameplay, and geeking out over franchises, particularly anything Japanese and Disney.

You need to enjoy what you’re doing. I’m truly passionate about being creative to solve problems and working with others to make the world an easier and happier place in a technology-embracing society. I pour my heart into my work and always take initiative to help my teammates and get projects done.

👩‍🎓 Never stop learning.

As human beings, we never stop growing; thus, we should always be striving to learn more in order to continue to grow. I am always looking at ways to challenge and improve myself, such as reading UX blogs, collaborating on projects, and brushing up on my design knowledge through online courses.

🎗️ Give back.

One of my core principles is that you should always striveto help others using your own skills. Thus when I can, I volunteer as a UX and design professional for non-profit organizations.

Practicing empathy and kindness can have a significant impact. By being transparent, sharing knowledge, and seeking to understand different perspectives, we can cultivate a culture of inclusion and respect. It's important to remain true to yourself and others.
